Dear Partners in the Gospel

AsiaCMS sends you our warm greetings and we invite you to join us in thanking God because “a great door for effective work has opened up for us” (1 Corinthians 16:9). That great door in Asia is the raising of 26 Asian mission leaders, the setting up of training alliances in Nepal, Pakistan, India, Bhutan and Malaysia whereby over 500-800 Asian leaders have been trained during the past year. We have much to thank God for the progress of the Gospel in the form of over 26 Co-workers in Asia. However, like the Apostle Paul, we share in his pains and struggles in pioneering work within the heartlands of Asian religious contexts when Paul reminded his Christian friends of “many who opposed us” (1 Corinthians 16:9).

The Apostle Paul went on to share 3 principles of Christian giving, appealing to Christians at Corinth to be his partners in his pioneering ministry:

  1. Lay aside money regularly “on the first day of the week” (1 Cor 16:2). Christian giving should be disciplined and regular. As a newly formed mission, we are looking for 100 Asian donors who will commit to monthly or annual giving.
  2. “Each one of you should set aside sum of money according to his income” (1 Cor. 16:2). Christian giving is proportionate. We don’t all give the same amount but God expects those who have been given more to give proportionately more. In the past, Asian churches received from churches in the West. Today, we pray for more Indian churches, Chinese churches, Malaysian churches and Singaporean churches to give sacrificially as God has blessed us economically.
  3. Christian giving should be strategic. We see in Acts that not only wealthy churches sharing with poorer churches, but also Gentile churches sharing with the Jewish churches. The early churches gave strategically so that Asia Minor can be evangelised. We should be concerned for not only the local needs in our country and church, but also our neighbouring needs and those at “the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Today, we need Asian churches to give sacrificially for the evangelisation of Asia.

In the attached document, I have listed more details of different aspects of AsiaCMS ministry and some suggestions on how you could partner with us both in prayer and financially. We hope you would spend just 5 minutes reading through them. You may wish to consider them as part of your Christmas offering.

This Christmas, may Christ be the centre of our celebrations.  “God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.” (1 Timothy 2:3-6).

We are grateful for your support and partnership in the Gospel. Asia continues to be the least evangelised region in the world. Despite growing evangelistic efforts, there is a lack of good intercultural and interfaith training centres. AsiaCMS seeks to meet this critical need by raising godly and skilful Asian trainers and designing discipleship and leadership programmes to come alongside Asian churches in their goals to “Serve the Poorest of the Poor within the Heartlands of Asian Religions.”

Will you partner with us? Will you support our ministry in 2016? Will you invite us to design and deliver discipleship and leadership training programmes that are sensitive and effective for engaging Asian religious contexts?

Christmas Greetings and Happy New Year 2016.

Sincerely in Christ
