God is good. Apart from my regular activities, I had the privilege of conducting the “Building a Foundation for Faith” programme in several provinces for about 100 people in the second quarter.
The extension programme of the Shalom School of Ministries, which was taken to Preyveng, Battambang, Kompong Chhnang, Kompong Speu, Kompong Thom, Takeo and Ratanakkiri, benefited the participants immensely by enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the Bible.
As we stay simple, humble and true to Scriptures, we could feel the faithful leading of God. In 2017, the Shalom School of Ministries started a training programme called “Building a Foundation for Faith”.
It is aimed at reaching out to local pastors and church leaders who lack opportunities to attend training in their local areas to equip themselves. Our facilitators humble themselves to stay where they stay, eat what they eat and fellowship with them in God’s love.
Teaching and training can be both a challenging and an exhilarating task, especially when it has to be juggled with general administrative duties.
As the founding dean of the Nepal Theological Academy (NTA) in Kathmandu, I can testify to this. But praise God for his faithfulness; NTA celebrated its first anniversary on Oct 21, 2016. We invited our new board secretary to preach to our students. There was also a cultural show.
Karna Bahadur was born in a Hindu family of west Nepal and worked as a teacher before going to Japan to work. His sister accepted the Lord and he hated her for that because he didn’t like Christianity as he was a devout Hindu.
We serve and share as the Lord leads. We thank the Lord for guiding Kumar in his preaching preparation and giving him the privilege of sharing the Christmas message entitled “Unwrap: The Gift of God” in our local church, Makati Gospel Church, on Dec 25.
The retelling of the Christmas story as told in the Gospels proves crucial at a time when festivities centre on Santa Claus, gift-giving and family gatherings. Praise God for how He reminds us through His Word of the real reason behind the season — the Saviour Christ born to take away our sins and grant us new and everlasting life! He is definitely the best gift any person can ever share and receive.
AsiaCMS’s goal to see local mission leaders rise up in their own countries and reach their own people with the gospel is gathering pace with an exciting joint training venture just completed in Cambodia.
AsiaCMS teamed up with Chhinho Saing, founder and director of Shalom Mission Cambodia (SMC), and held a Missional Leadership Training in May 2016. Together with Chhinho, who is also AsiaCMS’s new co-mission partner, AsiaCMS executive director Dr Tan Kang San and AsiaCMS training director Loun Ling Tan taught at the training sessions held at SMC’s School of Ministries in Phnom Penh.
Are you considering or preparing for mission in Asia? Come to Asia Gateway before you go. It is not just about mission training for new workers. It also embraces Training of Trainers in Asian contexts.
