A Harmonious Mission: Music, Prayer, and Discipleship in Rural Areas

Isaiah*, a co-mission partner from the region of Southeast Asia, shares that in the past few months, his team has been busy travelling for multiple short-term mission trips to rural areas in the interior.

During these visits, they were able to conduct several training sessions focusing on discipleship. These included visiting the homes of locals, leading prayer meetings, Bible-based classes for children and adults, as well as music lessons.

The discipleship courses have helped strengthen the faith of approximately 150 secondary school students (in one of the locations).

The month of August was especially significant for Isaiah and his team, as they hosted a team from East Asia who came to learn more about the local indigenous people and to serve at the local church through worship and intercession.

A traditional Chinese medicine therapist accompanied Isaiah’s team to a few villages. While treating some of them, she was also able to share the Gospel with them. She did not just treat their physical needs, but spiritual ones as well.

Isaiah also shares that an educational company helped his team to raise over RM 26,000 for a program which supplied solar power systems to almost 30 homes in one area. This will make a huge difference to the quality of life for those in the area as each household will have the basic amenities

Pray for:

  • The trainees completing their discipleship training in November; those who are staying back in that area will continue to serve with open hearts and minds.
  • The possible addition of an extra Sunday worship service to host over 200 secondary school students.
  • The installation of solar power systems in another area (to be completed by the end of November); the locals will actively participate in learning the skills to maintain these new solar power systems.
  • For Isaiah and his team as they discuss ministry plans and strategies for 2025 – new members and new partnerships with other organisations; for the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
