18 Oct Empowering Leaders: The Mission to Equip Pastors in South East Asia
Peter*, a Co-Mission Partner in South-East Asia, is currently working with 19 key trainers across 11 regional centres in his country. In the second quarter of this year, he conducted 15 training sessions on topics such as Stewardship, Leadership, Prayer, Christian Family, the Holy Spirit, Worship, Church Planting, and Evangelism.
These sessions have trained over 500 leaders and pastors throughout Asia. However, the work is challenging due to economic instability in rural areas, where many people, including church leaders, rely on agriculture. Financial difficulties often lead to debts if their farms fail.
Despite this, many gospel workers in remote villages are eager for training to enhance their knowledge and effectiveness. The cost of travel remains a significant hurdle, as only food is provided at the training centres.
Additionally, many participants from rural areas have low literacy levels, which complicates their understanding of the training materials, despite efforts to tailor content for those with limited education. Peter and his team have noticed that the commitment of trained leaders can vary. Nevertheless, they remain undeterred and have planned another 15 training sessions for the remainder of the year across their regional centres.
Pray for:
- God’s protection as some of the trainers travel quite a distance from their homes to the training centres. During the rainy season, many of the areas are flooded and some road conditions are harder to travel on.
- each training to be conducted under the Lord’s authority and anointing so that every participant may learn in a supernatural way.
- God’s provision for the trainers and leaders as they are voluntarily serving by faith.
- the new recruits/students in the coming months and years; that they will have the passion for missions.
