06 Oct Faith in Action: Transforming Lives Through Ministry and Resilience in Asia
James*, a Co-Mission Partner in South-East Asia, has been active in ministry and relief efforts throughout the year. During one trip, strict government restrictions forced James and his team to cancel visits to rural villages. Despite this, they met with local leaders working with the underprivileged, providing around 700 families with educational materials and groceries. They also repaired five houses damaged by a recent typhoon and set up an online school project.
The team also travelled to two countries in South-Asia, facing multiple obstacles, including a lengthy detention by immigration and surveillance by local police, alongside funding deficits. Despite these obstacles, they ministered in churches, schools, relief camps and among children in slums. About a hundred of these children later returned to receive free tuition and to learn about Jesus.
They also successfully raised over USD 10,000 for marginalized communities, and were encouraged by the faith of the locals, in spite of the challenging circumstances. One of the key events during their trip was a teacher training program. By God’s Grace, all costs, including travel, accommodation and resources, were met, allowing 100 educators to participate in the training. For many attendees, such a course for professional development was a first.
Pray for:
- The ongoing education projects in several South-Asian countries; that each team will continue serving the Lord faithfully and those they are helping will be open to continue learning about Jesus.
- The safety, protection and wellbeing of young people fleeing a country within South-East Asia and the online education program being conducted in the same vicinity.
- The Hostel project within another South-East Asian province that will be a great blessing for underprivileged students and the financial provision that is needed for it to be a success.
