16 Jun Growing Churches that Start in Homes
Samuel* and Abigail* lead a church in a major city in South Asia, alongside training pastors and lay leaders. One of the priorities for their church is to empower leaders to grow in their faith, train in church ministry and eventually build home churches within their own communities, which include many people who have never heard the gospel before.
In the first quarter of 2024, they worked with the church to host multiple prayer events, conducted discipleship classes, Bible studies, and training programs for pastors, and planted churches in different areas of the state they live in. They were also actively involved with the Community Development Program in their locality.
One story they delightfully share is that of Arthur* and Emilia*, who joined their church about a year ago, with a desire to plant a church in their community. Over the past year, the couple engaged in a year-long ministry intensive – being actively involved in church ministry, leading worship, preaching, visiting homes, and even learning about ministry through media. Through this time, their burden to plant a church within their own community steadily increased, and Samuel and Abigail, along with their team, encouraged them to start a house church. Arthur and Emilia are excited to see how the church grows and are grateful for the church that helped them grow to be the leaders they are now.
Samuel and Abigail eagerly await many more testimonies of what God is doing through their church and how more communities can learn of the gospel.
Pray for:
- The Community Development program
- Their church planting ministry across their state, working with unreached people groups
- Their church to find a committed couple for the pastoral care ministry
- Financial provision for the church and the various training programs
- Them, as a family, to grow in God’s grace and wisdom
