10 Jan Training and Equipping to Grow His Kingdom
Based in Nepal, Gopal fervently trains and equips grassroots level church leaders. For over a decade, he and his wife have been training and discipling new believers in a town in East Nepal which borders many remote hill districts. Gopal and his wife also train women leaders and carry out counselling for Christian marriages and families. Very few initiatives like these exist in that region. To make an even bigger impact through his ministry, Gopal and his family are currently in India where he is studying at a Bible college. Gopal’s time in India will further equip him for his ministry which he will resume in the same part of Nepal upon his return. The Holy Spirit has been Gopal’s guide and strength through a challenging first term and as he continues to juggle between his family and his studies. On Sundays, the family faithfully attends a Nepali church where God has opened the door for Gopal to preach and engage in church activities.
Gopal’s ministry has left a deep impact on many. Daniel* is one example. Born and raised a Hindu, he often felt alone and questioned his existence. Earning a high income while working in a Gulf country did not give Daniel peace either. After his futile attempt at suicide, his colleague shared God’s love with him. Although he was sceptical, Daniel obligingly visited church with his friend. During the worship session, God moved upon Daniel’s heart which led him to accept Christ.
He was baptized and returned to Nepal where he married and began to engage in church ministry. As he progressed and desired to involve in leadership, he needed further development but could only commit to short term trainings as he needed to assist his wife with their small business. Gopal’s ministry provided a way for Daniel to do this. The two-month training increased his discipline, grew his personal walk with Jesus, and taught him new approaches to sharing God’s love. He changed his preaching and teaching style and allowed God to use him in a unique way. Daniel’s yielding to the Holy Spirit enabled God to enhance his skills in church administration and organising worship and to grow the ministry.

Pray for Gopal’s children as they struggle to adopt to the new culture and school in a new environment and for their safety as they travel daily to and from school by bus.
